Basic structure
Appearance: The shape of a boat, with a movable button, usually used to control the circuit on and off.
Internal structure: It is mainly composed of conductive part, insulating part and operating mechanism. The operating mechanism is connected with the button, and when the button is pressed or toggle, the operating mechanism drives the internal contact action, so that the conductive part contacts or separates, so as to realize the conduction and cutting of the circuit.
Working principle
The internal contact is driven by the operating mechanism to make it closed or disconnected to control the on-off of the circuit. For example, in a rice cooker, when the boat switch is in the “cooking” position, the heating element is energized and begins to work; When the switch is in the “heat” position, the heating element is powered off and enters the heat preservation state.
Main classification
1 by contact type:
Single pole single throw: 1 moving contact and 1 static contact, only 1 channel.
Single pole double throw: 1 moving contact and 2 static contacts, can be connected on both sides of the static contact.
Double pole single throw: 2 moving contacts and 2 static contacts, with 2 channels.
Double pole double throw: 2 moving contacts and 4 static contacts, can be connected on both sides of the 2 static contacts.
According to capacity and sealing performance 1:
Small capacity unsealed type: small rated voltage and rated current, such as 5A@120VAC, 28VDC; 2A@250VAC, there are three positions, the terminal is usually covered in gold or silver brass, life can reach about 50,000 times.
Large capacity sealing type: suitable for power supply, airtight and safe, such as 15A@125VAC; 8A@250VAC, there are two gears ON or OFF, the terminal material is made of brass tin, the life is generally about 10000 times.
